Beaver Lake State Park
Located on the west shore of Beaver Lake, Beaver Lake State Park is operated as a seasonal park, with camping, picnicking and water-based activities available from mid-May through Labor Day. The park's gently rolling prairie provides scenic views for leisurely walks. In the summer, the lake attracts visitors for boating, canoeing, water skiing and fishing.
Black Tiger Bay State Recreation Area
Black Tiger Bay is used exclusively for boat launching and provides access to the eastern reaches of Devils Lake, North Dakota's largest natural body of water. Amenities are limited to a boat ramp, boat trailer parking and vault toilet facilities. No camping is permitted at this day use area.
Bowman Haley Lake
Located on a former Sioux hunting ground of treeless slopes and plains, this 1,740 acre V-shaped lake offers year-round recreational opportunities including camping, boating, fishing, hunting and picnicking.
Brekken-Holmes Recreation Area
Site is one and one-half miles north of Turtle Lake in the center of North Dakota. The lake has 675 surface acres and 10 miles of shoreline. Available species include trout, walleye, crappie, bluegill, and small mouth bass.
Camp Lake NWR
Camp Lake NWR is an easement refuge located in prairie pothole country in McLean County. The "Camp Lake unit" includes crop, hayland and open water. The "Strawberry Lake unit" consists of heavily grazed native prairie and a recreational lake totally surrounded by summer homes, boat docks and out buildings. Water skiing, swimming, boating, fishing and other recreation are not subject to easement restrictions.
Chase Lake NWR
Chase Lake NWR was established in 1908 and is the second oldest refuge in North Dakota. The refuge features 4,385 acres of unique native prairie grassland and wetland habitats. Two native prairie islands support the largest nesting colony of white pelicans in North America with populations ranging over 20,000! An additional 6,112 acres of State and Federal public lands lie adjacent to the refuge preserving valuable habitats for a wide diversity of resident and migratory wildlife, including federally and state listed endangered species.
